Selecting the base profile

The overall process for creating a profiled resource in clinFHIR is:

1. Select the base resource to profile against
2. Alter the existing elements to suit the Use Case
3. Attach any extensions to the resource(which can be to the resource as a whole, or to an existing element. You may be able to re-use an existing extension - if not, then you can create a new one.

It's important to have done the analysis prior to actually building the profile!

So the first action after loading the Profile Builder is to select the base resource. The image shows the screen after the Basic resource has been selected. (This is a resource with minimal core properties, and is useful when there isn't an existing resource that you can adapt).
